Crockpot Chicken Paprikash

Crockpot Chicken Paprikash
with Dumplings

(Recipe adapted from allrecipes.com - photo also from allrecipes.com - I did not use noodles, I added dumplings instead.)

Paprikash ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons Hungarian paprika
  • 3/4 cup white wine
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Directions:

  1. Add chicken and onions to crockpot.
  2. Add paprika, wine, and broth.
  3. Let chicken mixture slow cook for several hours (3-4 hours on high heat or 6-8 hours on low heat).
  4. Stir in 1/2 cup sour cream. Heat through.
Dumpling Ingredients:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/6 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup milk
Combine first 3 ingredients. Cut in shortening, add milk.
Drop small spoonfuls of dumpling mixture into hot crock pot mixture (aim for the liquid areas). Cook for about 15 more minutes.

I served this with steamed broccoli for some color variation. It was delicious! :)
