Yesterday, I was 15 weeks pregnant. It kind of feels like time is going faster now, and at the same time, it feels like it is still going so slow! I think once we have our big ultrasound and find out if it's a boy or girl, then I'll be about halfway there, and it will feel like time has really gone by!
I have been feeling pretty good this past week. Mike and I took the week off and went on a road trip through the southwest. We saw some strange and interesting things, and over all we had a great time. The peeing situation actually turned out pretty well - Mike had to stop almost as often as I did, so we never really had a problem with stopping frequently (usually every 2 hours). We slept in the car one night, but that was uncomfortable for us both, so we got hotels the rest of the trip.
This week, baby is about the size of an orange. That actually seems like a substantial size, for a change! He or she is about 4 inches from crown to rump now. The legs are longer than the arms now (although I'm pretty sure my baby already had longer legs a few weeks ago!) Amniotic fluid is now moving through the nose and respiratory tract, helping the lungs develop. The eyelids are fused shut, but baby is now sensitive to light. Baby is moving around a lot now, but it's still a little too early for me to feel those flutters. I can't wait for that extra reassurance that baby is doing okay in there!
Tomorrow is my first doctor visit with my new OB, and I am really looking forward to it. I have a lot of questions for him, and I am anxious to hear my baby's heartbeat. It has been a whole 3 weeks since we last checked in on baby, and it feels like an eternity. I want to make sure everything is okay! (Guessing by my ever-expanding waistline, I'm pretty sure everything is fine!) Hopefully tomorrow we will be scheduling the BIG ultrasound. I'll update you tomorrow after my appointment!
The average weight gain for this point in my pregnancy is about 5 pounds. I'm pretty sure I've gained some weight by now - I'll find out tomorrow!
